Reaffirming Middle East Dredging Company (Medco) commitment to world-class quality and excellence, Medco proudly announces being awarded OHSAS 18001 and ISO 140001 and 9001 certifications approved by the acclaimed Lloyds Register Quality Assurance Ltd, UK.

Medco in addition to its core business of dredging & reclamation, was lauded for the quality of their projects that span design, development, marine engineering, environmental study (EIA), embankments, soil improvement, ports development, ports basins and approach channels, airports developments, oil & gas site preparations, wave breakers, quarrying activities, coordinated civil-marine works, navigation aids, and heavy earth-moving works in the field of marine construction creating structural Land Platforms and Artificial Islands for the future.

Medco’s projects, dotted along Qatar, UAE and other Gulf States coastlines, while being technologically advanced were commended for being environmentally friendly and conscious at the same time. This shows Medco’s seamless integration of management functions and their passion in meeting their environmental and economic goals.

Elaborating on Medco’s developmental plans and commitment to the State of Qatar and other Clients, Medco’s Management is overjoyed at this achievement. Their marine related onshore and offshore works, procurement and execution of the dredging/reclamation works are now certified as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 compliant.

The ISO 9001 certificate, demonstrates Medco’s ability to consistently develop products for the GCC that exceed master builder and engineering expectations, while meeting stringent international statutory and regulatory requirements. ISO 14001 is a management system addressing environmental issues, preservation of environment linked to business performance and profitability. ISO certificates are awarded by the International Organization for Standardization. OHSAS 18001 (Occupation Health and Safety Assessment Series) is a standard for health and safety management systems. This certificate is intended to help Medco control occupational health and safety risks, ensuring the safety and care of the company’s employees.

The certificates of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001, in addition to ISO 9001, are important milestones that make Medco one of the very few home-grown companies to qualify and bid for international projects. The certification puts Medco in a unique league of companies meeting the highest standards for a marine construction Company; and are essential for Oil & Gas sector, which is reflected in the success of Medco together with Dredging International in executing major projects in Abu Dhabi like Ruwais Refinery Expansion Project for TAKREER (ADNOC Group) and SARB Artificial Islands Project for ADMA-OPCO (ADNOC Group).
