Mechanical engineering group EnerMech has been awarded a five year contract to provide a range of crane services for TOTAL E&P UK Limited.
The contract is worth an estimated £10 million and covers the Elgin, Franklin(photo), Alwyn and Dunbar platforms in the North Sea and TOTAL’s onshore crane requirements at St Fergus.
The workscope covers the provision of crane operation, maintenance and engineering support services, the supply of rigging equipment lofts and lifting equipment inspection.
EnerMech will create 20 new jobs to service the contract, which has five one year options and is the first awarded to the Aberdeen-based company by TOTAL.
EnerMech managing director, Doug Duguid , said TOTAL’s decision to award the contract, after competitive tender, was another step forward in establishing his company’s credentials as a global provider of crane services, equipment and specialist personnel.
Mr Duguid said : “Historically other divisions in the EnerMech group have worked with TOTAL but this is the first major crane project to be awarded to us and we are looking to build a strong and lasting relationship with Total.
“We are in the process of investing millions in upgrading facilities at our Aberdeen base and on new equipment and that marks us out from our competitors who lack the financial resources at our disposal.
“This investment and the continuous development of our technical and engineering capacity is a major factor in securing the confidence and trust of major operators such as TOTAL who are looking for fresh thinking and innovative and cost effective solutions.
“Twenty new posts will be created as a result of this win and with other major contract awards in the pipeline we expect our workforce to grow to more than 800 within the next year.”
