Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd (MMHE) was awarded the Industry Excellence Award 2010 by the Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI) on 24 March 2011.

MMHE received the Export Excellence Award – Services category from the Minister of International Trade and Industry Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Mustapa Mohamed. Accepting on behalf of MMHE was General Manager of Marketing & Sales Mr. Manoel Gomes.

This year marks the Industry Excellence Awards 20th year anniversary and since it was first introduced in 1991 the awards had given recognition and reward companies for their quality achievements, organisational and export excellence.

In his opening speech Dato Seri Mustapha said that the participation in the Industry Excellence Award continues to improve each year, both in terms of numbers and quality. A total of 228 companies participated in the Industry Excellence Award 2010, the highest number since the Award was first introduced.

Present to grace and witness the award presentation was the Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak . Speaking at the ceremony Dato’ Seri Najib said he would like to see more Malaysian companies becoming globalised in the business operation and contribute more to the expansion of exports and external trade and hoped that the winners will be a bench mark for other companies to enhance their performance. He said that. “ Each company that participated in these awards has their own role in the Malaysian economics .”

Also present at the ceremony were Dato’ Mukhriz Tun Mahathir, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry, Tan Sri Datuk Azman Hashim, Chairman of the Award Ceremony, Datuk Dr. Rebecca Fatima Sta Maria Secretary General, Ministry of International Trade and Industry and other industry captains.
