In February 2010 Seajacks entered into a contract with GustoMSC to provide the Basic Design Package for two purpose built wind farm installation vessels.

In June 2010 Seajacks entered into a contract with Lamprell shipyard to build these new vessels and Seajacks will take delivery of the first new-build, Seajacks Zaratan, in May 2012, and the additional new-build shortly thereafter.

These self-propelled jack-ups have been designed specifically to service the wind farm installation market in the harsh operating environment of the North Sea, as well as to provide services to the oil and gas industry. The vessels will be a modified version of the MSC NG5500 design, which incorporates a fully redundant DP2 propulsion system, accommodations for 90 persons, and an 800T leg encircling crane designed by MSC.

Seajacks Zaratan Construction Summary – 13/03/2011

* Double blocks 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10 are fully assembled, fully welded and installed on Keel Blocks.

* Block 21 is now being attached.

* Block Assembly – Blocks 14, 16, 21, 22 & 23 are in progress.

* Block Sub Assembly – Block number 13 is in progress.

* Panel Fabrication – Blocks 11, 12, 27A, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32 & 33 in progress.

* Painting – Block 15, 17 & 18 in progress.

* Pipework spool fabrication continues for bilge, ballast, F.W. transfer, sanitary, fuel transfer, oily water and air vent/sounding within these blocks.

* Fabrication of pipe supports is on-going.

* Spud can steel fabrication is on-going at the sub-contractor’s yard. As of the end of February 2011, 46% was completed.

* Leg rolling/fabrication is on-going at the sub-contractor’s yard.

* Construction progress on the main 800T crane was 8%, as at end February.

* Construction progress on the jacking system was 7% (ahead of schedule) at the end of February 2011.

* Electrical work continues.
