The latest global ranking by Brand Finance Global 500, shows GDF SUEZ nº 1 in the utilities sector, ahead of E.on and EDF. For the third consecutive year, this confirms the position of GDF SUEZ as global leader in the utilities sector. In the same ranking, the Group is listed nº 4 among French companies, behind Orange, BNP Paribas and Axa. On the global list combining all sectors, GDF SUEZ ranks 62nd.

The ranking was determined by Brand Finance, the world’s leading brand valuation consultancy. The value of the GDF SUEZ brand in 2011 was calculated to be $12.902 billion, a slight increase from 2010. The calculation of the Group’s value for 2011 does take into account the merger with International Power, which was finalized early this year.

According to Brand Finance, “ GDF SUEZ remains the world’s most valuable utilities brand. The Group successfully used the GDF SUEZ logo as an “endorsement brand ”, helping to ensure consistency and built brand equity in the parent brand ”.
