REpower Systems AG (WKN 617703) is selling the major assets of its logistics subsidiary Windenergie Logistik GmbH (WEL) to Universal Windkraft Logistik GmbH (UWL). UWL is a subsidiary of the heavy goods transports company Universal Transport, Paderborn. The contract will take effect on April 1, 2011. The 30 or so employees at WEL will retain their jobs, with their contracts being transferred to UWL as of April 1.

REpower acquired the major assets of its long-time logistics partner Schaumann in 2008 and incorporated them in what is now WEL, a 100% subsidiary of REpower Systems AG.

Gregor Gnädig, COO of REpower Systems AG , commented: “With the acquisition of this logistical partner, we secured transport capacities of great importance to us at the time. However, we have now decided not to expand the business area of heavy-duty transport, but rather to concentrate on our core expertise as a system supplier for wind power plants.” REpower will continue to work with UWL as a logistics partner.
