The world’s idle containership fleet has fallen to its lowest level in over two years, despite the continuing decline of freight rates. According to figures released by Paris-based analyst Alphaliner, the number of vessels currently in lay-up dropped by 25 over the past month to reach a total of 84 ships, or 185,000teu, of which 23 are owned by shipping lines, down from 39 last month.
