Bergen Group Inks Electrical Design and Installation Contract for NCA’s Vessel

Bergen Group Vest Elektro has been awarded a contract for electrical design and installations on a multifunctional vessel to be built at Fitjar Mekaniske Verksted AS for The Norwegian Coastal Administration. The contract also includes an option for the same work scope on a similar vessel.

The contract, with option included, has an estimated value of NOK 17-20 million. The installation work on the first vessel will be carried out in Q4 2011 with delivery in Q1 2012. The option for the assignment on vessel number 2 is valid until end of 2nd half of 2011.

Bergen Group Vest Elektro is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bergen Group ASA and is a part of the Group’s technology division. The company has within a few years evolved to become a major player in maritime engineering and advanced electrical installations. Bergen Group Vest Elektro has approximately 50 employees, and is headquartered in Bergen.

December 30th 2010 FMV signed its first construction contract since 2006 to build multifunctional vessel for the Norwegian Coastal Administration. The contract was initially for the construction of a vessel, and possibly an option. But the NCA has plans for a fleet renewal program to a total of 6 vessels in the years to come.

Norwegian Coastal Administrationis a Norwegian government agency responsible for the water transport infrastructure along the 92,000 km Coast of Norway. It is responsible for coastal navigation infrastructure, pilotage and harbour and port infrastructure, including lighthouses. The agency is led by the Directorate of the Coast (Kystdirektoratet) and is subordinate the Ministry of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs. The main office is in Ålesund.
