LUX Assure, a research and development company specialising in chemical monitoring technologies for the oil and gas industry, has appointed Laurence Ormerod as chairman further strengthening the firm’s focus on the global oil and gas sector.
With 30 years experience in the oil and gas industry, Mr Ormerod has been a non-executive director with the firm since June 2010 and takes over the role of chairman from Adam Christie, who remains with LUX Assure as a non-executive director.
Mr. Ormerod began his career as a field engineer working for Schlumberger and was managing director of EPS Ltd from 1992 to 2004, where he led the company through a period of considerable growth, leading to its eventual purchase by Weatherford in 2004.
Emma Perfect, managing director and chief scientific officer at LUX Assure said: “We are delighted to announce Laurence as the new chairman of LUX Assure. Since coming on board last year as a non-executive director, his knowledge and expertise has been a great asset to us.

His advice on the value of the technologies and where to target them within the industry is of great benefit to LUX Assure and adds to our existing expertise within the company. ”

Representatives from LUX Assure will be travelling to promote the firms technologies and share their expertise at key oil and gas events in the UK and US this year. These include the International Symposium for Oilfield Chemistry at The Woodlands Convention Centre in Texas from 11-13 April and at the 9th Produced Water Workshop in Aberdeen, UK on 18-19 May. The firm also recently attended the NACE International Conference and Exhibition from the 13-17 March in Houston, Texas as it begins to target the US market.
LUX Assure specialises in developing robust, highly sensitive and simple to use chemical monitoring solutions for the oil and gas industry. The technologies are suitable for both offshore and onshore use and for applications in production, processing, transportation and storage.
