The Larrakia Trade Training Centre was today opened in Darwin, the Northern Territory, Australia. INPEX CORPORATION and its Ichthys LNG Project joint venture participant Total E&P Australia donated (AUS)$3million towards construction of the Centre.

The Australian Minister for Resources, Energy and Tourism Martin Ferguson, the Northern Territory Chief Minister Paul Henderson and the Larrakia Development Corporation Chairman Nigel Browne celebrated the successful launch of the Centre at an official ceremony held today in Darwin. INPEX Chairman Naoki Kuroda congratulated those who made valuable efforts for the establishment of the Centre for the Larrakia people and the Darwin community.

The Centre has been developed by the Larrakia Development Corporation who operates the Centre and approximately 300 students are already enrolled to learn professional skills such as electrical, automotive mechanics, metal fabrication and plumbing. Another 200 Aboriginal students are expected to enroll later this year.

The Centre will provide opportunities for Territorians to gain the accredited qualifications required to develop their careers while making an important contribution to the social and economic sustainability of the Northern Territory.

INPEX and Total are working closely with the Australian, Western Australian and Northern Territory Governments and the community to ensure the successful development of the Ichthys LNG Project.
