Nicholls State University Christened New Research Vessel ‘Burt Wilson’ (USA)

Nicholls State University’s new research vessel, the R.V. Burt Wilson, was ceremonially christened Wednesday, April 20, on campus.

Named after Samuel Burton “Burt” Wilson III, the late Nicholls faculty member who pioneered marine biology research in the Department of Biological Sciences, the vessel was funded via an educational research grant from BP.
