Dong E&P Norge AS has received consent to use the mobile facility Mærsk Giant on Oselvar, located in the southern part of the North Sea.

The Oselvar field is located southwest of Ula and northwest of Ekofisk. The field was discovered in 1991 and belongs to production licences 274 and 274CS. The water depth at the site is approx. 72 metres.

According to the plan, production from Oselvar will be routed to Ula, which also receives production from the Tambar and Blane fields, towards the end of 2011. Ula is expected to produce until 2028.

The consent relates to the use of Mærsk Giant to drill three horizontal development wells (1/3-A-1H, -2H and -3H) on Oselvar. The start-up is scheduled for May 2011. The activity will have a duration of approx. 305 days.

Mærsk Giant is a jack-up mobile drilling facility owned and operated by the A.P. Møller-Mærsk Group.

The facility was built in Japan at Hitachi and commissioned in 1986. Mærsk Giant can operate in water depths of up to 107 metres, and can accommodate 87 people.
