Iran: Serajeh Gas Storage Begins Operations

The first underground gas storage facility in the Middle East has started its trial operation in Serajeh in the central province of Qom, Managing director of the Natural Gas Storage Company (NGSC), Mr. Samivand announced here. The first underground gas storage facility in the Middle East has started its trial operation in Serajeh in the central province of Qom, Managing director of the Natural Gas Storage Company (NGSC), Mr. Samivand announced here.

According to the report of the public relations of the NIGC, he said that by natural gas injection into Qom Serajeh, this underground gas storage will be commissioned in the next few days.

He went on to say that during the first phase of the project we will inject 7.3 to 9 million cubic meters of gas per day and will extract 10 million cubic meters of gas during the peak months of the year.

With the completion of the second phase of this project, it is estimated to extract 30 million cubic meters of gas per day.

He expressed his hope that with completing the first phase of this project with over $200 million in value, Iran’s capacity for storing natural gas will increase to 110 million cubic meters of gas by the end of Fifth Five Year Development Plan up to 2015.
