TTS Secures QCLNG Contract (Australia)

A major Australian contract will see TTS supply a specialised linkspan serving a liquefied natural gas plant off the country’s east coast. The order for the linkspan is with civil contractor Golding for the development of a construction dock on Curtis Island outside Gladstone, north of Brisbane.

The project, named Queensland Curtis (LNG), involves the construction of a plant to turn coal seam gas into liquefied natural gas. TTS will design and supply a specialised integral tank linkspan for the site.

“ This project represents a major investment in Queensland’s coal seam gas industry to unlock new supplies of cleaner energy for domestic and export markets ,” says Håkan Jönsson, Vice President, Sales at TTS Port Equipment AB .

“ The dock will serve as a terminal for delivery of building material and equipment for the site and, in future, for transfer of maintenance equipment to the island. RoRo vessels will use the integral tank linkspan for the transfer of traffic from ship to shore .”

TTS has designed and supplied many integral tank linkspans around the world, meeting stringent safety requirements in a variety of challenging settings.

The specialised design was a core product of Marine Development, which TTS acquired in 2007.

Offering great flexibility and stability and eliminating the need for a permanent support structure at its outer end, the linkspan provides a smooth transition between quay and ship.

This maximises the revenue generated by RoRo berths and reduces the need for port management assistance.

Both the gradient and the transition angles can be specifically designed for any location, enabling the structure to be tailored to significantly reduce turnaround times.
