AREVA Renewables announced today that Jean Huby is appointed Chief Executive Officer of AREVA Wind and Executive Vice President of the Wind business unit within AREVA Renewables, headquartered in Hamburg, Germany. This appointment is effective May 12, 2011.
JEAN Huby joined AREVA in September 2008 as Senior Vice President of Strategy and served on the board of Multibrid, now AREVA Wind. He has a proof record of delivering strategic initiatives for the Group and shaping the new platform of the Wind business unit.
He was Deputy to the CEO of AREVA Renewables until May 2011.
Over the last two years, AREVA WIND has made significant development on the way from a start-up company to a full-scale leader of a global industry. The company has established a unique track record with the alpha ventus project and has accumulated 600 MW of confirmed backlog to become one of the top three players in the European offshore wind sector.
AREVA Renewables CEO Anil Srivastava stated “As we ramp up the Wind business for large scale deployments and expand the Offshore Wind business internationally, Jean’s proven track record in delivering large strategic initiatives will be of tremendous value. I am sure that under his leadership AREVA Wind will emerge as the leading player in the industry”.
JEAN Huby began his career in 2000 at the Solétanche-Bachy group (now part of the Vinci group) before joining the mobile telephony division of SAGEM (now Safran). From 2002 to 2008, he occupied several leading positions at the European Commission (EC), before joining AREVA. Jean HUBY is a graduate of the École Polytechnique and the École des Mines. He holds a post-graduate degree in economics.
AREVA Wind designs, builds, assembles and commissions high-efficiency 5 MW wind turbines specifically designed for the offshore market. It also offers installation services, as well as short to long-term service plans to ensure the optimum performance of the power generation assets.
