RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) celebrated its latest success in a long line of ground-breaking initiatives recently by unveiling its advances in procurement and the supply chain at the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Middle East Conference 2011 in Abu Dhabi.

RasGas’ Venture Projects Business Manager, Jamal Al Anbari , who is also a full member of CIPS, delivered the presentation on behalf of RasGas to an audience of senior industry professionals.

Jamal’s presentation, titled “Effective Procurement – Providing On-time Cost-effective Quality Procurement Services,” highlighted yet another ground-breaking advancement through the use of technology and improved systems controls.

“ As one of the world’s top energy suppliers, RasGas strives to maintain its position as a leader in the energy industry through innovation and best practices across the board, which includes procurement and supply chain excellence, which is represented in measurable tangible results ,” he said.

Al Anbari also underlined the integration of the four main components in RasGas’ successful procurement process: People, Processes, Controls and Systems. All of them are leading to clearly defined best practices that have already received international recognition and have been acknowledged by OFS Portal, a non-commercial organisation and a founding member that helped to develop Petroleum Industry Data Exchange (PIDX) standards.

“ Being at the forefront of the energy industry requires commitment and dedication from every department and employee. This is demonstrated by our constant innovations not only in production and safety, but continuously providing on-time cost-effective quality procurement services also. We at RasGas are constantly developing the required skills to improve our people, and adopt best practices and systems in all our activities ,” Al Anbari said.

The CIPS Middle East Conference held in Abu Dhabi on 22 May 2011 focused on devising and implementing successful procurement and supply chain management strategies. It is a platform for industry experts to share their knowledge and experience, helping one another devise creative solutions to sector-wide challenges.
