Subsea Riser Products has delivered a subsea latch for a Riser Umbilical Termination Unit (RUTU) in record time. From contract agreement the latch was delivered in a period of just 14 weeks including engineering, procurement, fabrication and testing.

The latch is designed for a 25 year service life with capacity for bending, shear, tension and compression loads exerted by the riser and RUTU. The latch makes-up (latches) under its own weight and is then locked in place via a single ROV interface.

John Shield, project manager, said, “ We designed this latch to be quick to manufacture. Through comprehensive fatigue analysis we avoided the use of special forged parts to achieve the delivery date and fatigue life. This technology is simple but effective and has a wide range of applications.”
