On 27 September 2010 Southern Cross Electrical Engineering Ltd (SXE) announced that they were in advanced negotiations with Leighton Contractors to perform the electrical and instrumentation services for the Civil and Underground Services Contract for the Gorgon Project awarded to Leighton. These negotiations have continued since that date on a good faith basis and have concluded with both parties unable to reach agreement.

Mr High, CEO of SXE said “ Whilst we are clearly disappointed that a mutually acceptable contract could not be reached, we understand and respect Leighton’s decision. We wish them every success with this very exciting and challenging contract. With a tender pipeline of approximately $900 million I remain very confident that SXE will achieve substantial growth over the coming three years. ”
