Fugro has finalised the acquisition of Sial Geosciences Consulting and Engineering Şti. in Turkey and the seismic processing business of Kelman Technologies in Canada.

Sial is a leading Turkish geotechnical consultant providing expertise to large infrastructure construction companies and government. Fugro has previously cooperated with Sial, most recently on the geotechnical and geological data acquisition for the Izmit Bay bridge. Sial will continue as Fugro Sial Sti. and is expected to expand on basis of the strong infrastructure market in Turkey.

Current annual revenues of Sial are around EUR 1.5 million. The company has its head office in Ankara and a support office in Istanbul and employs around 20 staff.

In May 2011 Fugro announced that it had reached agreement in principle with Canada- based Kelman Technologies to acquire their seismic processing business. This transaction has been completed.
