Ciner Shipping Industry & Trading, a subsidiary within Ciner Group, one of Turkey’s fastest growing commerce, industry and service conglomerates, has secured OceanSaver MARK II systems for two suezmax tankers at China’s Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry and four bulk carriers at SPP Shipyard in Korea.
Twelve weeks ago OceanSaver informed the market about the launch of its next generation BWT Mark II system and goals to introduce better performing filtration technology, reduce installation cost and complexity for retrofit and newbuilding projects.
“The industry has responded very favourably to MARK II and OceanSaver’s high-end technology for critical ballast water treatment applications. Ciner Shipping is a new international company looking to sustain its fleet-growth ambitions of 20 – 30 bulk and tanker vessels with high quality equipment suppliers,” says Tor Atle Eiken, Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing of OceanSaver.
The agreement is valued at around USD 7 million and represents OceanSaver’s first bulk carrier BWT system delivery, consisting of the supply and installation of 4 sets of MARK II ballast systems, each with a treatment capacity up to 2 x 800m3/h.
OceanSaver has now signed major contracts for 38 BWT systems thus propelling its position as a key supplier to the global medium to large vessel fleet.

“Additionally, the system is also approved for installations in gas hazardous areas, a prerequisite for our tanker applications,” says Papakalodoukas.
