China Oilfield Services Limited announced that COSLPioneer, a semi-submersible drilling platform of the Group, has recently received an Acknowledgement of Compliance certificate (“AOC certificate”)issued by Petroleum Safety Authority (“PSA”)of Norway, on the heels of similar accreditations for COSLRival and COSLRigmar received earlier.

AOC certificates are mandatory credentials companies and drilling platforms need to have before they can operate in Norwegian waters. There are very stringent requirements for their issuances. PSA has conducted a comprehensive assessment on organization structure, management system and operating capability of COSL Drilling Europe AS (“CDE”)and conditions of the equipment and facilities, level of sophistication of the crew members of COSLPioneer before it decided to grant the platform an AOC certificate. Since then, COSLPioneer is officially eligible for operation in Norwegian waters.

The successful issuance of an AOC certificate to COSLPioneer will establish a firm footing for CDE’s efforts in the next stage to apply for the same certificate for two more semi-submersible platforms.
