Iran is not only ready to meet Pakistan’s additional gas needs but is interested to participate in oil sector projects of the neighboring country including building oil refinery and petrochemicals, Iran’s acting minister of petroleum Mohammad Aliabadi announced on Sunday.
According to the report of the public relations of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), on the sidelines of a bilateral meeting with the Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Petroleum & Natural resourced, Dr Asim Hussain, Aliabadi said that talks were constructive and the two sides talked on mutually interested issues.
He went on to say that, in case of concluding a new agreement, gas export to Pakistan would increase from 21.5 million cubic meters to 30 million cubic meters per day.
Pakistan has recently expressed its willingness to increase gas take and new round of talks is focused on the issue.
Regarding to the seventh Trans-Iranian gas pipeline with capacity of 110 million cubic meters of gas per day, Iran will be able to meet Pakistan’s additional gas demand.
