Infocast returns this year with its 2nd Annual Edition of the Freshwater Wind 2011 Summit at the Doubletree Hotel – Dearborn in Detroit MI, July 18-20, 2011 and the timing couldn’t be better! Spurred by LEEDCo’s enormous 30-MW Ohio 2012 wind project with expectations of 1000-MW of capacity in Lake Erie by 2020, potentially producing enough power for 200K homes, Great Lakes wind energy is on the verge of monumental growth and promises to have an even greater share of America’s offshore wind industry.

With the long-term economic windfall translating into tens of billions of dollars in investments, the revitalization of underutilized manufacturing capacity and a torrent of job creation, the burst of activity has aroused great interest from governments and investors within the industry. Hence, Freshwater Wind 2011 is being held at the most opportune time and will bring together developers, manufacturers, government officials, financiers, and economic development leaders, as well as representatives from across the entire supply chain, to hear the latest developments and meet key decision makers to participate in this exciting industry.

Freshwater Wind 2011 will boast a high-profile roster of speakers representing all facets of the Great Lakes wind energy industry. Notable Summit confirmations include LEEDCo, Sierra Club, the Michigan Public Service Commission, NRG Systems, Siemens Energy, Trillium Wind Power, and Vestas Offshore among many prestigious organizations.

Freshwater Wind 2011 launches on July 18 with a special keynote presentation from Jim Lanard, President of the Offshore Wind Development Corporation. On July 20, the Post-Summit Great Lakes-Specific Offshore Wind Technology Showcase will feature leading researchers including Case Western University, the University of Toledo, and Normandeau Associates, as they discuss the pertinent technology, ports and staging advancements vital to the success of Great Lakes wind.
