COSL720, a newly-built 12-streamer seismic vessel owned by China Oilfield Services Limited (“COSL”), has successfully completed a 3D seismic data collection operation in Li Wan 43-11 region in South China Sea, marking completion of its first operation since commencing service.

This operation was commenced since the end of May in a typhoon season. The poor weather and hectic offshore conditions posted a serious impact to the operation. COSL720 went through three tropical depressions and two typhoons and completed 1547.65 km2 of operation in 44 days. This created encouraging results: daily navigation distance of 129.45 km and a daily data collection volume of 77.67 km2.

The successful completion of the first exploration operation established a solid foundation for COSL720’s future.
