Norway: Premier Oil Gets Green Light for Exploration Drilling in North Sea

Premier Oil Norge AS has received consent to carry out exploration drilling of well 9/1-1S in the North Sea with the Bredford Dolphin mobile facility.

The well will be drilled in production licence 406, with Premier Norge AS as the operator (40%). The other licensees are Skeie Energy AS (40%) and Spring Energy AS (20%).

The well is located approx. 26 kilometres northwest of the Yme field and 150 kilometres southwest of Stavanger.

The well has the following coordinates: N 57° 53` 37.022″, E 04° 00` 56.047″. The water depth at the site is 87 metres.

The drilling is scheduled to start in August 2011 at the earliest. The estimated duration of the operation is 46 to 71 days, depending on potential discoveries.

Exploration drilling will be carried out with the Bredford Dolphin semi-submersible drilling facility, owned by Fred Olsen ASA and operated by Dolphin AS.

The facility was built in 1976 and received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the PSA in 2007.
