Aberdeen-based Operational Excellence (OPEX) Group Ltd, a specialist company focused on helping operators produce more oil and gas, has won new business worth more than £500,000 in the last month and is targeting turnover exceeding £1 million in its first year of trading.

The company was set up in August 2010 after receiving a seven-figure commitment from entrepreneurial investment company Enerco Venture. OPEX is working with a range of international oil and gas companies, including locally based Premier Oil and Talisman Energy.

OPEX, as well as offering a range of operations and maintenance services, has also created a service and product offering using technology that enables operators to visualise how their topsides are being operated and maintained.

Jon Gill, OPEX managing director, said: “We recognise the opportunity to provide significant and tangible improvement in oil and gas operations through improved measurement, modelling and analysis. We have a committed focus to reduce short term ‘fire-fighting’, improve strategic planning and enhance maintenance and operations. Working with operational teams and engineering professionals through to those responsible for profit and loss, we deliver operational visibility and measurable performance gains.”

“With a committed investment in research and development, our strategic intent is to continually innovate, develop and deliver product, technology and service offerings that support our corporate aims – more production, managed risk, reduced cost and increased value”.

Enerco Venture was formed by Jamie Bennett in 2010 to encourage the next generation of oil and gas entrepreneurs and its commitment to OPEX was the company’s first deal.

Jamie Bennett, OPEX Chairman, said: “Investing in OPEX was a clear fit with Enerco Venture’s strategy to invest in opportunities which have the potential to improve the oil and gas industry, increase output or radically improve client efficiency. It takes a lot more than just finance to realise success. We offer a hands-on approach, adding distinct value by injecting the right mix of entrepreneurial excellence and specific expertise, along with a shared passion for doing things differently”.

OPEX currently has 9 members of staff and is based in Enerco Venture’s refurbished offices in Albert Street, Aberdeen.
