The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway audited Statoil Petroleum and the diving contractor Technip Norge on 2 December 2010 in connection with follow-up of divers as a group exposed to risk.
This audit is a part of a major pan-industry audit activity directed at multiple players.
Background
On the basis of experience from follow-up of working environment and risk of personal injury in the petroleum activities, it seems clear to the PSA that employee groups in the industry have differing risk levels as regards work-related injury and illness.
Earlier audit activities have shown that different framework conditions have been of significance for handling of risk factors, and that this affects the actual risk for different groups.
One of the main priorities of the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway over the last five years has been groups exposed to risk.
As part of this effort, a number of audit activities were carried out between 2007 and 2010 of how the companies identify and follow up groups exposed to risk.
The purpose of this audit activity was ascertain how Statoil and Technip assesses and follows up risk of work-related illness and injury for divers, and how they relate framework conditions to risk.
The PSA also wanted the audit to contribute to increase knowledge about groups exposed to risk in order to direct risk-reducing measures to where the need and effect are the greatest.
Result
No nonconformities were identified in connection with the audit.
