Statoil been granted consent to use the mobile facility Transocean Leader for production drilling on Troll Oil.
The consent applies to drilling, completion, workover and plugging and abandoning (P&A) of three wells in block 31/2, which belong to production licences 054 and 085, where Statoil is the operator.
The purpose of the activities is to obtain data and prepare wells for production from Troll B/C.
The start-up is scheduled for August 2011 and the activity will be completed by 1 August 2012.
Transocean Leader (photo) is an Aker H-4.2 semi-submersible drilling facility built in 1987 at Hyundai Heavy Industries in Korea.
The facility is owned and operated by Transocean Offshore Ltd, with the Marshall Islands as the flag state and DNV the classification society.
The drilling facility has been in operation for Statoil since June 2005.
