Statoil Gets Green Light for Exploration Drilling in Norwegian North Sea

Statoil has received consent to use Maersk Gallant for exploration drilling of well 2/4-21 as well as an option on sidetrack 2/4-21 A. Statoil has received consent to use Maersk Gallant for exploration drilling of well 2/4-21 as well as an option on sidetrack 2/4-21 A.

The well will be drilled in production licence 146/333 and is located in the North Sea about 13 kilometres north of Ekofisk. The closest distance to land (Lista) is 260 kilometres.

Mærsk Gallant’s planned position for drilling well 2/4-21 is: N 56° 42′ 00.81″, E 03° 08′ 34.31″. Water depth at the site is approx. 67 metres.

The planned start-up date is early August 2011. The operation has an expected duration of 166 days with a potential option of 51 days.

Mærsk Gallant is operated by Maersk Contractors Norge A/S. The facility received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in August 2002.
