Recently, China Oilfield Services Ltd. announced that HYSY708, a deepwater engineering survey vessel under construction has completed a 15-day trial voyage and returned successfully. This remarks the construction of HYSY708 has entered into a final stage.

HYSY708, being an important member of COSL’s deepwater equipment portfolio, is capable of operating in depths of up to 3000 meters with a drilling capability at 600 meters below sea level and a maximum crane lift capability of 150 tonnes. The trial voyage has been meticulously organized by the product supervision and construction teams with support from China Classification Society (CCS), Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Shanghai Ship Research & Design Institute and its equipment providers.

During the trial voyage, a series of major offshore tests were done, namely electricity-powered propulsion system tests, communication and navigation equipment, dynamic positioning system FMEA measurement, the stability and inertia of route examination, swing and speed measurements, energy consumption and vibration and noise analysis, laying a solid foundation for the completion of HYSY 708’s construction.
