Rocksource to Use Borgland Dolphin for Exploration Drilling in Norwegian Sea

Rocksource ASA (Rocksource) has received consent to carry out exploration drilling of well 6608/11-7S in the Norwegian Sea with the Borgland Dolphin mobile facility. The well will be drilled in production licence 559, with Rocksource as the operator (60%). The other licensees are VNG (30%) and Skagen44 AS (10%).

The well is located in the Norwegian Sea, about 190 kilometres west of Sandnessjøen. The closest distance to the mainland is approx. 183 kilometres (Vikna).

The well has the following geographical coordinates:

N 66° 14’ 01.32”, E 8° 30’ 47.34”. Water depth at the site is 333 metres.

The activity has an expected duration of 39 to 46 days, depending on any discoveries.

Borgland Dolphin (pictured) is a type Aker H-3 semi-submersible mobile facility built as a flotel at Bergen Mekaniske Verksted in 1976.

In 1999, it was modified into a mobile drilling facility at Harlan and Wolff Shipbuilding and Heavy Industries Ltd. in Belfast.
