Samskip Multimodal Container Logistics recently bought 500 brand new 45 ft Samskip containers, which will all be in the fleet by the end of the year, replacing most 10-year old whitewood flooring containers.

With eye on the future and in line with environmental friendly approach to transport, Samskip is proud to use lightweight bamboo flooring instead of scarce timber.

Contrary to wood, bamboo is grown on plantations following demand whereas the trees need to supply the world with oxygen and are not easily replaced. What’s more, bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants on earth as some of the species are capable of growing a staggering 100 centimeters or more per day.

Besides being environmentally friendly bamboo fiber is also much stronger, more flexible and lasts much longer than wooden floors.
