Fairstar Heavy Transport N.V. has been awarded a new transportation contract by Hercules Offshore to transport the Hercules 185 jack-up rig from Port Gentil, Gabon to either Pascagoula, Mississippi or Bahrain using the Fairstar semi-submersible vessel FJELL.

The contract revenue is just under USD 3 million. The rig is expected to be loaded on board the FJELL on October 5. The final destination will be nominated by Hercules once the rig has been loaded.

Philip Adkins, Fairstar’s CEO stated “Fairstar is delighted to be working with Hercules Offshore for the first time. Jim Stevens of High Seas Maritime Services has represented Hercules for many years in the marine heavy transport business and we know he sets high standards of performance for anyone that wants to work with his client. FJELL has been en route to Alaska to begin work on the Fertilizer Plant project. The FJELL will continue on to Alaska once the rig has been discharged and will begin preparation to load the first stage of modules scheduled for transport to Nigeria.”
