The Standing Committee on Business and Industry from the Norwegian Parliament (Stortinget) visited OSM in Arendal 29 September.

The responsibilities of the committee are matters relating to business, industry, trade and shipping. The members toured this part of the country to get first hand knowledge of the shipping and offshore companies in the region, and to discuss future challenges for the industry and the region.

Bjørn Tore Larsen, Chairman of OSM Group, welcomed the committee-members and gave an introduction to OSM and how OSM now delivers management, crew and building supervision for shipping and offshore customers around the world. He emphasized that in order to remain competitive and be able to operate globally, Norwegian shipping and offshore companies must be given the same conditions and support from the Norwegian authorities as the industry enjoys in other countries.

“ We note the comment. It’s very interesting to visit a company that creates work for 10.000 employees during a period of 20 years ,” the Deputy Chairman of the committee Svein Flåtten said after the presentation.
