The recently published energy statistics for 2010 from the Danish Energy Agency shows that Denmark has an increasing share of its energy consumption covered by renewable energy.

Made up according to the calculation methods of the EU, the share of renewable energy increased from 20.1 per cent in 2009 to 22.3 per cent in 2010.

The Danish Energy Agency’s statistics show that the biggest contribution to the increase in renewable energy derived from wind power and biomass, especially in connection with production of electricity and heating.

DONG Energy is proud to be a contributor to the increase in renewable energy, for instance by virtue of the offshore wind farm Horns Rev 2, and by use of wood pellets and straw as fuel in Denmark’s biggest power plant Avedøre Power Station.
