Elengy, a GDF SUEZ Group company that has operated LNG terminals since 1965, has pledged to support the French national maritime rescue organisation (SNSM) lifeboat stations at Côte d’Amour and Carro, which are situated near its LNG terminals at Montoir-de-Bretagne (Loire-Atlantique) and Fos-sur-mer (Bouches-du-Rhône) respectively.

Elengy will be helping to finance lifeboat crews’ safety equipment in these two stations from 2012 to 2014.

SNSM is a private association with the primary purpose of providing a free and voluntary rescue service to people at sea. It has 221 stations along the French coast and the Côte d’Amour and Carro SNSM stations are staffed by 45 and 25 rescuers respectively.

Elengy has safely received almost 8,000 LNG tankers since beginning operations and is now capable of receiving the largest tankers in the world, Q-Max tankers (which can carry 260,000 m3 of LNG), at both Fos-sur-mer and Montoir-de-Bretagne.
