More than 1,000 figures from across the oil and gas industry are expected to gather in Aberdeen to discuss future projects planned on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS). PILOT Share Fair, sponsored by CAN, will see major companies present details of upcoming work to a host of small and medium-sized supply chain contractors at the event at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on 2 November.

Designed to promote open and constructive dialogue between companies, a unique feature of the gathering is the opportunity for ‘one-to-one’ sessions – where companies can meet potential clients face-to-face to discuss future business plans.

Scottish Energy Minister Fergus Ewing said the event was the ideal platform for companies to share future project details with each other. He said: “The oil and gas sector is of vital importance to the Scottish Economy. Our North Sea oil and gas resources – a trillion pound asset base – are set to generate an all-time record £13.4 billion in tax revenue this financial year.

“The sector supports around 200,000 jobs and with up to 40% of oil reserves still to be exploited and more than half of revenue still to come, it’s an industry with a bright future.

“Innovation has been at the heart of the sector’s success so far and skills learned and techniques pioneered in the oil and gas sector have been vital both in the industry itself and in developing Scotland’s world-leading renewable energy sector.

“PILOT Share Fair provides the ideal opportunity for delegates from across the oil and gas sector to share information and learn about recent developments and new opportunities.”

Malcolm Webb, chief executive of Oil & Gas UK said: “Companies are investing billions of pounds developing oil and gas projects in the UKCS and there is a world-class and highly-competitive supply chain on our doorstep providing excellence in engineering, manufacturing and technology.

“PILOT Share Fair is the annual event where major operators, independents, subsea specialists and major contractors will be revealing where the new opportunities lie over the next 18 months and I would suggest it’s not to be missed.”

Presenting companies include: AGR, Aker Solutions, AMEC Group, BP, BG Group, Endeavour Energy, Enquest, Marathon, Nexen, OGN Group, Petrofac Facilties Management, Shell, Statoil, Subsea 7, Taqa Bratani and Total.
