Derek Blackwood Joins WFS Technologies’ Board of Directors (UK)

WFS Technologies announces the appointment of Derek Blackwood, OBE, President of Wood Group PSN Americas region, to its Board of Directors.

Derek began his career as a student apprentice with BP Tanker Company gaining an HND in Marine Engineering. He worked in a variety of roles within the oil & gas industry with John Brown Engineering, Marathon Oil UK, APG/Salamis JV, prior to joining Wood Group Engineering as Managing Director in Aberdeen in 1996.

In 1999, Derek relocated to Houston and took on responsibility for Wood Group’s Engineering and Production Facilities in North and South America.

In his current role, Derek is still based in Houston and is responsible for the Wood Group PSN businesses in Canada, USA, Latin America and the Caribbean.

“I am looking forward to joining the Board of WFS Technologies. I initially became involved with WFS a few years ago in response to a request for assistance from Brendan Hyland to the Globalscot network. I have been extremely impressed with the leading edge technology that WFS is continually creating and hopefully I will be able to contribute to the growth and development of the company and the enhanced deployment of that technology”

Derek is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers; a member of the Energy Institute; a non executive director of Shawcor Ltd, a director of the Saltire Foundation and a founder member of the Globalscot network. He was appointed OBE in the 2007 New Year’s Honour’s List.
