Mozambique’s First Lady Names New Car Carrier ‘Hoegh Maputo’

Mozambique’s First Lady names Höegh Maputo in a spectacular naming ceremony at the Maputo Car Terminal in Mozambique on 21st October 2011.

Mozambique’s First Lady, Her Excellency Mrs Maria Da Luz Dai Guebuza acted as Lady Sponsor and named and blessed Höegh Maputo accompanied by her husband His Excellency, Armando Emilio Guebuza, the President of Mozambique. Other guests included Mozambique Ministers, the Norwegian Ambassador to Mozambique, representatives from the Chinese Embassy, representatives of Norwegian businesses in the country and many of Höegh Autoliners’ customers in the region.

The ceremony was hosted by Höegh Autoliners Chairman Leif O. Høegh accompanied by Thor Jørgen Guttormsen (Director in Höegh Autoliners and President in Norwegian Shipowners Association), Carl-Johan Hagman, Head of Region Per Folkesson and Thierry Collard with colleagues from Höegh Autoliners in Johannesburg who had prepared all arrangements so well.

Höegh Autoliners has invested interests in the joint venture operating the Maputo terminal and other Höegh interests are involved in investments in Mozambique.

Höegh Maputo was delivered from Xiamen Shipbuilding Industries in China in July 2011.
