AN award recognising the work of small businesses in the region’s green energy industry is being sponsored by a Hull-based civil and structural engineering company.
Alan Wood & Partners is to sponsor a category of the Humber Renewables Awards 2012.
The accolades – the first of their type in the region – aim to mark the success of people, businesses and other organisations which are contributing to the area’s renewable energy industry.
Established in the 1960s, Alan Wood & Partners has five offices across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, with headquarters in Beverley Road, Hull.
The firm is sponsoring the Humber Renewables Business of the Year award, less than 50 employees category.
Chris Medlin, director of Alan Wood & Partners , said: “We have chosen to support the Humber Renewables Awards 2012 as we feel this is an excellent event, recognising the work being carried out by local businesses which are determined to make a difference in the renewables sector across the region.”
Earlier this year, Alan Wood & Partners completed a hi-tech site survey at Green Port Hull – the dock location earmarked as a potential home for offshore wind turbine assembly.
Mr Medlin said: “As a successful business in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, we are committed to supporting and encouraging both innovation and enterprise, not only within the local area but also within the regional business community.”
The Humber Renewables Awards 2012 are being hosted by specialist public relations and marketing company Footprint Renewables, in association with Mail News & Media – publisher of the Mail.
Eight award categories are available to enter, with the winners being announced at The Deep in Hull on March 2.
