Baker Hughes Incorporated announced yesterday that the international rig count for October 2011 was 1,197, up 23 from the 1,174 counted in September 2011, and up 98 from the 1,099 counted in October 2010.

The international offshore rig count for October 2011 was 312, up 8 from the 304 counted in September 2011 and up 7 from the 305 counted in October 2010.

The last report of rig activity in Libya was for February 2011.

The US rig count for October 2011 was 2017, up 39 from the 1,978 counted in September 2011 and up 349 from the 1,668 counted in October 2010. The Canadian rig count for October 2011 was 508, down 2 from the 510 counted in September 2011 and up 110 from the 398 counted in October 2010.

The worldwide rig count for October 2011 was 3,722 up 60 from the 3,662 counted in September 2011 and up 557 from the 3,165 counted in October 2010.
