The Alu Marine shipyard is currently starting the construction of a new passenger boat for Rotterdam, Netherlands, for which they won the contract after a European tender.
This double-ended ferry will transport passengers in Dordrecht, Netherlands, between the two banks of the «Vieille Meuse» and the lower reach of the Merwede. The vessel has the capacity of 200 passengers and 80 bicycles.
She will complement the existing fleet of the Waterbus network, modern passenger ships service between Dordrecht and Rotterdam operated by BV Aquabus.
The construction of the boat is currenly starting in the Alu Marine shipyard for delivery in summer 2012.
The world premiere presentation of the project with a scaled model of the future ship, will take place during the Europort Fair in Rotterdam between the 8 and 11 November 2011.
OPTIMIZED MANOEUVRABILITY
This 23 meters boat has the particularity of being able to move equally in both directions without having to turn around, reducing the operating time and fuel consumption.
The wheelhouse offers a 360-degree view to the pilot and is equipped with a twin steering console and a swivelling seat for manoeuvring from either side.
DESIGN AND FUNCTIONALITY
Developed in collaboration with the Stirling Design International design office, this simple and robust ship, classified by Bureau Veritas, has received special attention in terms of design and layout. Her simple and practical accommodation provides maximum efficiency for the transportation of passengers on short trips, while ensuring comfort and safety to passengers.
LOW CONSUMPTION
This aluminium inland waterways boat carrying 200 passengers is exceptionally light, ensuring low power consumption and excellent manoeuvrability, thanks to her two 160 hp Veth azimuth thrusters, driven by Sisu engines.
ACCESSIBILITY
The boat will be equipped with four mobile platforms on each side, which will enable the passengers to embark and disembark quickly and safely on either bank.
