On November 8, NYK Shipmanagement Pte. Ltd., an NYK Group company, held a ceremony at its head office in Singapore to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its establishment.
The ceremony was attended by about 200 guests including the Japanese ambassador to Singapore H.E. Yoichi Suzuki, Panamanian ambassador to Singapore H.E. Jose Antonio Ruiz, and officials from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Singapore government, maritime-related parties, and business partners.
NYK president Yasumi Kudo, in his greeting to the attendees of the ceremony, praised NYKSM employees both on shore and on board for their hard work in having developed the company to the level of undertaking management services for 210 vessels within 10 years of establishment. He added that he appreciated the firm support extended to NYKSM by Singapore maritime-related parties.
NYKSM plans to open a branch in the Philippines within this fiscal year in preparation for an increase in vessel management and to reinforce its management service system. In the Philippines, the NYK Group operates the NYK-TDG Maritime Academy to educate cadets and thus help them become officers with a high degree of professional competency.

Established in October 2001 as a wholly owned subsidiary of NYK to engage in ship management and crew manning services. The head office is located in Singapore, with branches and local offices in Tokyo, London (UK), Split (Croatia), Constanta (Romania), and Mumbai/Kolkata/Chennai (India).
Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA)
A government organization run by the Singapore Ministry of Transport responsible for overseeing sectors that include maritime transport, maintenance of security, management of ports, improvement of maritime law, and the management of Singapore flag ships.
Number of vessels as of the end of August 2011. Details: ship management services for 136 vessels; crew manning services for 74 vessels.
