Javelin International has received an order for new offshore wind support vessel from Braveheart Shipping. The vessel is going to be built at KD Workboats’ facility in Urk, the Netherlands.
The testing of Javelin was done by the Marin Institute in Wageningen. The vessel is optimized for stability in seas beyond the 2.000 mile zone and designed to be useful for survey and crew tendering. The 56-ton Javelin with a lenght of 22.22m is also specially designed for wind farms. This new type of vessel has been developed to fulfill the need for a vessel with a higher speed, larger carrying capacity and extended operational range giving, increased accessibility to offshore assets.
The unique design of the vessel results in fast, safe and comfortable transfer of personnel and supplies in challenging sea conditions with safety as highest priority.
Managing director of Braveheart Shipping, Jelle Hakvoort concluded that the vessel is equipped with at least equal technology to vessels twice as long.
The delivery is scheduled for May 2012.
