Maersk Drilling has signed a contract with Lundin Norway AS for an ultra harsh environment jack-up rig to carry out subsea field development of the Brynhild Field in Norway. The contract will be for MAERSK GUARDIAN or MÆRSK GIANT to be declared by 1 January 2013.
The firm contract duration is for three wells of approximately 325 days and also includes two options for one well each. The contract value for the firm three-well period is approximately USD 97 million. The contract is expected to commence between 1 March 2013 and 1 June 2013.

MÆRSK GIANT and MÆRSK GUARDIAN are sister rigs of Hitachi Zosen design and are built for operation in ultra harsh environments such as the Norwegian North Sea.
