STX OSV Holdings Limited, one of the major global designers and shipbuilders of offshore and specialized vessels, made effective the contract for eight LPG carriers for Petrobras Transportes S.A. (Transpetro). The contract for the construction of LPG carriers was originally signed in July 2010, but not yet included in the order book.

The total value of the contract is approximately USD 536 million, boosting STX OSV’s order book by approximately NOK 3 billion. The contract provides for the construction of two different types of LPG Carriers, designed by Hamworthy: Fully pressurized with cargo capacity of 7,000 m3 (4 units) and 4,000 m3 (2 units) and semi-refrigerated with cargo capacity of 12,000 m3 (2 units).

The vessels are scheduled to be delivered between 2014 and 2016 from STX OSV’s new shipyard currently under development at Suape in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil.

STX OSV Holdings Limited, together with its subsidiaries, is one of the major global designers and shipbuilders of offshore and specialized vessels used in the offshore oil and gas exploration and production and oil services industries.
