Japan’s Inpex Corp. and JGC Corp. will jointly acquire a 40 percent stake in several shale gas mines in Canada from Nexen Inc., the Nikkei business daily reported today.
Inpex will take about 30 percent stake, with JGC owning the rest.
Recently, Nexen Inc. said that it is interested in shale gas JV which could lead to exports of liquefied natural gas from Nexen’s shale-gas fields.
