Indonesia’s Pertamina will probably drop plans to import LNG for its floating storage and regasification projects due to soaring prices, a company official said last week.
“ The chance for importing LNG is slim at current high price ,” Mochamad Harun, a company spokesman said.
“ We have 1.5 million mt for 2013. We expect to secure more LNG supplies from other domestic sources as we are ready to buy at market price. We need certainty on LNG supply before the terminals are ready ,” Harun said.
Recently, Harun said that Pertamina is ready to buy LNG from the Tangguh plant in Papua, which is allocated for Fujian in China, for three times higher than the current listed price.
Indonesia is the third-biggest LNG exporter in the world, after Qatar and Malaysia.
