Indonesia’s PT Pertamina said that it hopes to secure supplies of liquefied natural gas from the Bontang LNG plant for Central Java FSRU project, the Jakarta Post reported, citing the company’s senior vice president for gas, Nanang Untung.
“ The high price has made LNG imports less favorable for us because it will be a huge economic burden for our company ,” Nanang Untung said.
The company expected the Bontang LNG terminal to provide 1.5 mtpa of LNG for the FSRU project.
“ We’ll find the remaining 1.5 mtpa. Now, the most important thing is certainty of the gas supply so that we can kick off the development project. We hope that this year we can get certainty over the gas supply ,” he said.
Pertamina also recently said that it is ready to purchase LNG from the Tangguh plant in Papua, which is allocated for Fujian in China, for three times higher than the current listed price.
