The Australia Pacific LNG Project’s commitment to maximise opportunities for local people and contractors was given another boost, with the appointment of a Regional Supplier Liaison Officer for its CSG to LNG Project.
The Regional Supplier Liaison Officer role was a concept raised by community members at Western Downs Regional Community Consultative Committee meeting earlier this year. As a result Origin, the Upstream operator for the Project developed the new position and appointed Mari-Anne Bonventi to the role.
Mari-Anne was born and raised in South East Queensland and moved to south west Queensland to take up a position in local government 18 months ago. She will be based in Roma and act as a primary liaison contact for regional suppliers, identifying opportunities in upcoming work projects and pro-actively engaging with regional businesses to maximise their capacity to participate in the Australia Pacific LNG Project.
Origin Group Manager Corporate Affairs Upstream Qld and CSG to LNG, Ken Horton said the organisation had worked hard to create a comprehensive local content strategy that aimed to maximise local business participation and to attract local people to the Project’s workforce.
“ To date more than 2,000 Australian businesses have registered their interest in being part of the Project through our supplier portal and nearly 2,000 regional people have participated in industry briefings and workshops hosted by Australia Pacific LNG in partnership with local and State Government ,” Mr Horton said.
“ The Regional Supplier Liaison Officer will play a key role providing a local face and point of contact to help regional businesses take advantage of the opportunities the Project will deliver .”
With extensive experience in assisting companies and organisations to develop their business both within Australia and internationally, Mari-Anne will act as a conduit between regional companies who wish to engage in supply chain opportunities with Australia Pacific LNG’s Tier 1 and 2 subcontractors.
Mari-Anne said she looked forward to working in a role that would provide real and lasting benefit for businesses and communities across the gas fields.
